Franklin Roosevelt And Adolf Hitler Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Adolf Hitler are often referred to as two of the most influential people of the first half of the twentieth century. FDR and Hitler were certainly the two most influential and powerful people in their time of economic depression and world war. These were two very different men, but they had their similarities. Both of these men brought their countryââ¬â¢s out of an economic depression. The two were very impressive speakers. Hitler certainly had his ââ¬Å"criticsâ⬠, but so too did Franklin Roosevelt. Franklin Roosevelt started his first presidential term at the lowest point in the Great Depression. Another very important act of Rooseveltââ¬â¢s Second New Deal was the National Labor Relations Act, which set up workerââ¬â¢s rights to unionize. Hitler also brought his country out of an economic depression. The German depression was caused mainly by the Treaty of Versailles, and its detrimental economic impact on Germany. Basically, Germany was forced to pay for all damages caused by the First World War. Hitlerââ¬â¢s policies that helped the German economy were part of his Third Reich. Hitlerââ¬â¢s Third Reich led to one of the greatest expansions of industrial production and civil improvement in German history. This success was mainly due to the expansion of the military and the expansion of the money supply through deficit spending. His policies set up social welfare programs such as the Reichsarbeitsdienst, or the National Labor Service, which was similar to Rooseveltââ¬â¢s Civilian Conservation Corps, in that it was a instrument to fight unemployment. The National Labor Service basically set up an official state labor service for Germany, often referred to as the RAD.
